Planet forming 444 light-years away contains large organic molecule

The new study shows that the gas, dust, and ice formed by 444 light-years away planets contain complex organic molecules that can lead to life.This chemical, known as dimethyl ether, is an important component of life that changes into prebiotics such as amino acids and sugars. Dimethyl ether is the biggest molecule ever distinguished in the planetary disk,” says Dr. Ninke van der Marrell of the Leiden Observatory.

This molecule has been previously found in the cold clouds in which the stars form, but it has not yet been found in the planet’s environment. This means that such molecules could directly rain on the planet when formed. This molecule is mainly significant because it is a “complex organic particle that is the starting point of a large molecule that is a component of life by extra chemical reactions. 

Who found it around the young star IRS 48, located in the southern sky of Ophiuchus. Simple molecules such as atoms and carbon monoxide undergo chemical reactions to form more complex molecules.

Beginning of life
